When you take responsibility for your agreements, reactions, and opinions, you see that your responses about others needing to change are often cover-ups for where you need to change, move on, or accept the world as you find it. When you look deeper, you may also find that many of your emotional reactions to current events have nothing at all to do with the present situation, but are governed by something you need to clean up from the past.

Related to the above, I also encourage you to be wary of the trap of attempting to clean up other people's stuff. For some of us this may be the first area of long-term cleaning—pulling your energy back to your own home, taking responsibility for what is yours to clean, and respecting others enough to allow them to do their own cleaning (or not do it). It can be easy to notice that your partner, your boss, or your parents have full closets of issues, and these can make for a nice distraction from looking at your own, but the truth is that other people's issues are not yours to clean and you couldn't do so anyway. Sure, if they invite you to share what you see, do so with utmost love and respect. Then create the space and encouragement for them to do their own cleansing. When it comes to Big Freedom, everyone is responsible for claiming his or her own work.
